I. Purpose
These Development & Production Terms define the standard framework governing CabinCrafts’ EASA Part 21J / Part 21G development programs.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, these terms apply to all projects involving engineering development, certification, tooling, qualification, industrialization, and serial production of aircraft cabin interior components.
These terms are intended to complement the commercial quotation and CabinCrafts’ General Terms & Conditions.
II. Project Scope
The commercial quotation defines the specific scope of each project, including the agreed deliverables, commercial assumptions, certification activities, production quantities, pricing, and project schedule.
Unless expressly included within the quotation, no additional engineering activities, certification work, testing, documentation, tooling, production support, or design modifications are included.
Any activity outside the agreed scope shall be treated as a Project Change.
III. Customer Technical Responsibilities
Successful execution of a Part 21J / Part 21G development program requires timely collaboration between CabinCrafts, its approved Design Organisation (DOA), Production Organisation (POA), and the Customer.
The Customer shall provide all technical information reasonably required to support engineering, certification, industrialization, production, and continued airworthiness activities.
Depending on the project, this information may include, but is not limited to:
- IPCs
- CMMs
- Aircraft configuration information
- Installation drawings
- CAD models
- Existing component samples
- LOPA information
- Material specifications
- Photographs
- Fleet applicability
- Service history
- Failure reports
- Customer engineering requirements
Failure to provide requested information may result in project delays, additional engineering effort, or adjustments to the project schedule.
IV. Engineering Development
Engineering activities shall be performed by appropriately approved Design Organisations in accordance with the applicable certification basis identified within the quotation.
Development activities may include reverse engineering, independent design substantiation, CAD development, design optimization, certification support, qualification testing, industrialization, and production release.
The exact engineering scope shall be defined within each commercial quotation.
V. Certification & Regulatory Compliance
Certification activities shall be performed in accordance with the agreed certification basis.
Depending on the project, certification deliverables may include:
- Engineering Orders (EO)
- Statements of Approved Design Data (SADD)
- Minor Change Approval (MCA)
- Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA)
- CMM Supplements
- Flammability Reports
- Qualification Reports
- Test Reports
- EASA Form 1
The applicable certification package shall be identified in the quotation.
VI. Prototype, First Article & Customer Approval
Where applicable, CabinCrafts shall manufacture prototype components for customer evaluation prior to commencing serial production.
Project activities beyond prototype evaluation shall proceed only after the Customer provides written approval confirming that the supplied prototype satisfies the agreed technical requirements.
Following successful certification activities, CabinCrafts shall manufacture the agreed First Article and initial production batch in accordance with the approved project schedule.
VII. Tooling & Industrialization
Unless otherwise stated in the commercial quotation, all tooling, molds, fixtures, manufacturing aids, inspection equipment, production documentation, and industrialization activities remain the property of CabinCrafts or its manufacturing partner, regardless of whether their cost has been amortized into the quoted unit price.
Unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing, the Customer acquires no ownership rights over tooling or manufacturing processes.
Tool maintenance, replacement, refurbishment, and future production improvements shall remain under CabinCrafts’ control.
VIII. Engineering Changes
The commercial quotation is based upon the technical assumptions existing at the date of issue.
Any modification requested after quotation acceptance—including changes to technical requirements, certification basis, aircraft configuration, materials, functionality, quantities, project deliverables, or customer specifications—shall constitute a Project Change.
CabinCrafts shall evaluate the impact on:
- Engineering effort
- Certification activities
- Tooling
- Qualification testing
- Production
- Lead times
- Commercial pricing
No Project Change shall be implemented until mutually agreed in writing.
IX. Production Planning & Inventory
Production planning shall be based upon the agreed commercial commitments, customer forecasts, historical consumption, and planned delivery schedule.
CabinCrafts will establish material procurement, inventory levels, and production planning using the information provided by the Customer.
Forecast revisions shall be communicated as early as reasonably practicable.
CabinCrafts will make commercially reasonable efforts to accommodate revised demand; however, revised production lead times may apply depending upon manufacturing capacity and material availability.
X. Product Configuration Control
All approved components shall be manufactured in accordance with the approved design data applicable to the project.
Where required by the approved design, modification placards, installation instructions, Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA), and configuration limitations shall form part of the approved configuration.
Unless otherwise agreed, the Customer shall maintain continued configuration control after installation.
XI. Intellectual Property
All engineering data, CAD models, drawings, tooling designs, manufacturing methods, Statements of Approved Design Data (SADD), Engineering Orders, Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA), Minor Change Approvals, inspection documentation, and production processes remain the intellectual property of CabinCrafts or its approved engineering partners.
Unless expressly transferred in writing, the Customer receives only the right to use the supplied products and associated documentation for operation and maintenance of its fleet.
XII. Warranty
Unless otherwise stated in the commercial quotation, CabinCrafts warrants the supplied products solely against defects in materials and workmanship for the warranty period identified in the quotation.
The warranty applies only to manufacturing defects existing at the time of delivery.
The warranty does not constitute a guarantee of product service life and does not cover normal wear and tear, operational use, passenger-induced damage, accidental damage, improper installation, misuse, unauthorized modifications, or damage resulting from causes unrelated to manufacturing defects.
In the event of a valid warranty claim, CabinCrafts shall, at its sole discretion, repair, replace, or otherwise remedy the affected products.
XIII. Delays & Force Majeure
Project schedules are established using the information available at the time of quotation.
CabinCrafts shall not be responsible for delays resulting from:
- Late customer approvals
- Delayed technical information
- Supplier delays
- Regulatory approval timelines
- Material shortages
- Transportation disruptions
- Force majeure events
Project schedules shall be adjusted accordingly.
XIV. Order of Precedence
In the event of any inconsistency, the following order of precedence shall apply:
- Signed Project Agreement (where applicable)
- Accepted Commercial Quotation
- CabinCrafts Development & Production Terms
- CabinCrafts General Terms & Conditions
